Yes. I’m smitten with my kitten. She’s turning a young ten years old later this month and a little pawty will definitely be happening to celebrate the fact that she has made it thus far—considering the circumstances.
My sweet little blue-eyed girl grew up south of the border down in Mexico. Without knowledge of any of the specifics, at around the age of five, she was rescued by an organization in San Diego. In time, a kind, older lady adopted her and the two of them lived happily ever after . . . until just a few weeks ago.
Life is an ever changing adventure and none of us ever truly know what’s just around the river bend. Little Kitty found herself being surrendered to a local group that re-homes cats who’ve been relinquished by their owners or whose owners have passed away, etc. She was promptly placed with a loving foster mom nearby when a friend emailed me about possibly adopting.
Short story shorter, she now has a new fur-ever home with me and I’ve become a doting adoptive Pawrent. Overnight pretty much. Instantaneously converted. My name is Jo and I’m a Cat Person.
My sweet girl’s prior three years of veterinary records showed no documentation of the fact that, at some point in her journey, she’d suffered the loss of half of her tail At yet another juncture she was declawed (poor dear thing!) and in addition to that her lab work confirmed an incurable blood disease. She’s currently asymptomatic and there’s a good chance she’ll live a healthy life here with me for several years to come.
With me. She’ll live and thrive with me despite her severed tail, the surgical claw removal, and the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. There’ll be lots of naps in her future and many, many contented days of purring and making biscuits on her favorite blanket, of watching the sparrows and squirrels out in the garden while daydreaming of catching them all. Yes, Little Kitty, you’re with me now and happier times are most definitely just around the river bend.
