Does anyone really need a solid reason to meet with a good friend for a cuppa joe and an unhurried catch-up? Well, sometimes I actually do.

Truthfully, I can easily find myself preoccupied with the daily things, the little projects that could use some of my attention and the bigger ones that demand it. Maybe it’s just me but as much as I enjoy connecting with those golden few in my inner circle, I’m occasionally slow to accept an invitation. Is that just me? It’s probably just me.

Recently an almost spur-of-the-moment invitation presented itself. Though only infrequently happening this way, the planets aligned, personal calendars had open availability, even the weather just for the heck of it presented a morning of blue skies with the perfect measure of rustling breeze. All of that happened just the other day and it was a delight!

A long-time friend and I enjoyed each other’s company over coffee and a shared lunch during such a comfortably relaxed mid-morning hangout. The kind that ends after hours of a back and forth relay of engaging personal and familial stories. An organically positive and nurturing type of experience that sends you forth with a glowing sense of a friendship strengthened. Much like a scrumptiously hand-crafted cocktail (mocktail in my case) can enhance a meal, this semi-impromptu get-together was positively immune boosting.

While we cannot expect every encounter to have such joyfully medicinal results, I do believe we can be more intentional about bringing this to our engagements.

Sometimes it just happens and sometimes you need to bring it if you want it.
