A friend of mine used to work for the Department of Justice. She was an investigator of disparaged peoples in foreign countries and as a result had incredible travel opportunities to beautiful and amazing lands. She was the first person I knew who was on Instagram several years ago. We didn’t meet often but when we did she’d always ask me if I’d seen her recent post and I had the same answer for several years, “Oh yeah I’ve been meaning to check that out.“ When I finally opened an account to look at her travel photos I found that she had stopped posting and her account was gone. She’d had a change of heart with the security level of this platform and so opted out all together.
In the time it took me to search for her account I saw so many incredible visuals depicting everything from coffee roasters for Jesus to Keto lifestyle recipes, extreme athletes with perseverance bar none, classical/vintage interior design that spoke my language, and so very much more.
A specific part of the “very much more” took me by surprise. The comments! Among the online community of #instaposters that I’ve followed and those following my account, I’ve witnessed such positivity and encouragement for fellow members.
Today I’m giving a shout out to a beautiful soul and generous encourager @ccmermaid13. One of her comments on a recent post of mine mentioned a Disney song, “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes,” and that mention, tucked inside a lovely comment, resulted in an addition to my growing gallery wall. I love it!
Whatever your platform, whether online or face-to-face interaction, let’s be the encouragers. Let’s lift people up for the gifts that are in them and not be the ones that tear down. Let’s encourage each other to elevate whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable.
